ABOUT SHELL ECO MARATHON
The competition dates back to the 1939 when Shell Oil Company employees in the USA made a friendly wager over who could travel furthest on the same amount of fuel. Since then, it has expanded to two more continents and also includes diverse energy types ranging from bio-fuels to electricity.
Today, Shell Eco-marathon challenges student teams around the world to design, build, test and drive ultra-energy-efficient vehicles. It is a celebration of innovations in science and engineering come alive through contributions from the brightest minds across Asia from over 20 countries. With annual events being held in America, Europe and Asia, teams compete on a global stage to achieve the epitome of fuel efficiency. The events spark passionate debate about the future of mobility and inspires young engineers to push the boundaries of fuel efficiency.
